Digital Culture for All: marketplace-led reuse of cultural heritage in games, XR and creative industries

REEVALUATE is a Horizon Europe project that connects museums and cultural heritage institutions with game/XR creators, designers, and creative studios by turning digitized collections into discoverable, rights-clear digital assets. At the core is the REEVALUATE Marketplace, which supports publishing, finding, and reusing cultural heritage assets with clear licensing options, contextual safeguards, and trust/provenance features, so reuse can scale beyond one-off collaborations.

Who we are

REEVALUATE brings together cultural heritage organizations, technology providers, and creative-industry actors to reduce friction in cultural content reuse. Our focus is practical adoption, meaning enabling institutions to share assets confidently and enabling creators to integrate heritage assets into real production workflows.

What we bring to Games for Culture Cluster

  • REEVALUATE Marketplace: a two-sided platform that supports institutions in publishing digitized assets of artefacts (licensing/terms, pricing and negotiation options, usage restrictions) and supports creators in discovering and reusing assets with filters and clear conditions.
  • Rights and trust by design: support for provenance/traceability and rights management so both museums and creators can reuse with confidence.
  • Context and safety mechanisms: approaches that help reduce reputational risk and support responsible reuse, including when AI-assisted “inspired-by” creation is involved.
  • Pilot-driven validation: REEVALUATE validates adoption frictions through real-world use cases, including a game-adjacent avatar/character dressing demonstrator using digitized fashion heritage assets (from MoMu fashion museum Antwerp) and immersive/interactive cultural experiences that overlap with serious-game mechanics.

Our vision and impact

We aim to make cultural heritage reuse a repeatable workflow not an exceptional project. Meaning lower transaction costs, increase trust, and enable sustainable collaboration between CHIs and creative industries, especially for game and XR creators.
